Contrary to what some people might think, libraries are more popular than ever, even with the development of the World Wide Web.

Think about it. . . libraries have something to offer all ages and interests - free access to the Internet, information for a term paper, data for a business presentation, a quiet place to peruse newspapers from around the world, or a place to explore novels by the world’s greatest authors.

You might be surprised to find out that there are almost three times as many public libraries in Canada than there are McDonald's restaurants. That translates to 3153 libraries (including branches). In fact, more Canadians visit libraries than take part in golf, hockey, baseball, and swimming combined.

A profession with a future
The time is right to think about a career in Library Science. Consider the fact that anywhere between 30 and 50 per cent of Canada’s library professionals are expected to retire by the year 2010 offers. You do the math…

MacEwan’s Information Management and Library technology program is designed to give you the skills you need to take advantage of the opportunities in this field.
